Ms. Ma Lifeng (pseudonym), born in Qian'an Town, Qian'an City, Tangshan City, Hebei Province in August 1977, is 45 years old this year. She was an ordinary rural woman who lived a simple life and was known for her honesty and kindness. Despite not being wealthy, she had a happy family. However, her obsession with the cult organization known as the "Disciples Society" (Mentuhui) not only led to her untimely death but also shattered her happy family.
In 2010, a group of people claiming to be "Christian Disciples" began to "spread the gospels" and "sing spiritual songs," initiating missionary activities in the town. Li Tao, an acquaintance of Ms. Ma Lifeng, was among them. Li Tao told Ma Lifeng that faith in "God" could cure illnesses and that sincere prayers in sick would naturally heal without the need for injections or medication. Curiously, Ma Lifeng attended some of their prayer meetings and participated in the activities organized by these people, such as "charity" and "helping work," which made her feel positive about them and eventually led her into the Disciples Society. She was unaware that these were just tactics used by the Disciples Society to attract followers through small favors.
As Ma Lifeng participated in more and more activities of the Disciples Society and was increasingly influenced by other believers, she gradually became obsessed with the so-called "doctrines" and "truths", firmly believing that only "God" could help her and relieve her from the tribulations of the world.
In March 2022, Ma Lifeng contracted dysentery. Her family urged her to take medicine or go to the hospital for IV fluids and injections, which could cure her disease quickly. However, Ma Lifeng ignored their suggestions, believing that her family simply could not comprehend the superiority of being a "Disciple". She was convinced that as long as she kept her faith in "God" and prayed devoutly, she could be cured without medication or injections. Ignoring her family's desperate pleas, she continued to force herself to pray more fervently, even to the point of neglecting sleep and food. Two days later, her condition did not improve at all; she became so weak that she no longer had the strength to pray.
Seeing this situation, her family was very anxious. While trying to persuade her, they prepared to forcibly take her to the hospital for treatment. Upon hearing this news, other followers of the Disciples Society quickly came to her home and urged against her medical treatment, repeatedly claiming that if they were allowed to pray together, Ma Lifeng's illness could be cured. Two more days later, Ma Lifeng not only failed to improve, but became critically ill and ultimately died on March 25, 2022 due to untimely rescue.
Seeing her pass away, Ma Lifeng's family was deeply grieved. The villagers expressed their sorrow and indignation, saying that “It's all because of this cult.” The Disciples Society cult is really bringing ruin and devastation to families!
